1. Scope of SMS Communications

edgefi uses SMS text messaging exclusively for IT and cybersecurity support purposes through our Twilio-powered SMS platform. You will only receive text messages from edgefi if there is an active support ticket associated with your account.

 

2. Information We Collect

When you communicate with us via SMS, we may collect the following information:

  • Your mobile phone number
  • The content of text messages you send to us
  • Date and time stamps of messages sent and received
  • Information related to your active IT or cybersecurity support ticket
  • Consent records documenting how and when consent was provided
  • Delivery metadata, including timestamps, delivery status, and carrier

 

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected through SMS communications solely for the following purposes:

  • Providing IT and cybersecurity support related to your active ticket
  • Sending you updates, status changes, and resolutions regarding your support request
  • Coordinating with our support team to efficiently resolve your issue
  • Maintaining records of support interactions, consent, and program participation for quality assurance, compliance, and carrier requirements
  • Responding to opt-out, opt-in, and help requests

We do not use SMS information for marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes.

 

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of personal information exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information collected via SMS with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With our service providers who assist in delivering SMS messaging services (currently Twilio, Inc.), bound by confidentiality obligations and prohibited from using SMS data for their own purposes
  • When required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of edgefi, our clients, or others

 

5. Data Retention

We retain SMS consent records and message metadata for the duration of the client relationship and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Mobile telephone numbers are deleted from the active Program upon opt-out and are retained only in records of consent and revocation.

 

6. Data Security

SMS data is protected using the same SOC 2 Type 2 and NIST Cybersecurity Framework-aligned controls described in our general Privacy Policy, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and vendor risk management.

 

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your SMS communications with edgefi:

  • You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any text message you receive from us
  • You may request access to your consent record by contacting privacy@edgefi.com
  • You may request correction or deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual requirements

 

8. Consent

By providing your mobile phone number and engaging in SMS communications with edgefi in connection with a support ticket, you consent to receiving text messages from us related to your active support request. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Message frequency varies based on the activity of your support ticket.

 

9. Children's Privacy

Our SMS services are not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information via SMS from children. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

 

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this SMS Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
