SMS Terms and Conditions

Terms governing text message communications for IT and cybersecurity support.

These SMS Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of text messaging (SMS/MMS) communications with edgefi ("we," "us," or "our"). By receiving or sending SMS messages to or from edgefi, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

 

1. Program Description

edgefi provides SMS text messaging exclusively for IT and cybersecurity support communications. Our SMS program operates through Microsoft Teams texting and is used solely to communicate with clients regarding active support tickets. This is not a marketing or promotional messaging program.

 

Key point: You will only receive text messages from edgefi when there is an active IT or cybersecurity support ticket associated with your account. Messages may include ticket updates, troubleshooting instructions, status notifications, and resolution confirmations.

 

2. Eligibility

To receive SMS communications from edgefi, you must be an existing client with an active support engagement, have a valid mobile phone number capable of receiving SMS/MMS messages, and be at least 18 years of age or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By providing your mobile phone number in connection with a support request, you represent that you are the account holder for that number or have the account holder's authorization to use it for this purpose.

 

3. Opt-In and Consent

You consent to receive SMS messages from edgefi when you provide your mobile phone number as part of a support request or ticket submission, respond to an edgefi SMS message, or verbally or in writing request SMS communication for support purposes. Your consent is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services from edgefi. Consent applies only to support-related communications tied to active tickets.

 

4. Message Frequency and Content

Message frequency varies depending on the activity and status of your support ticket(s). You may receive multiple messages per support interaction, but you will not receive messages when there is no active ticket. Messages may include:

  • Support ticket status updates and notifications
  • Troubleshooting steps and technical instructions
  • Requests for additional information needed to resolve your issue
  • Confirmation of issue resolution and ticket closure
  • Scheduling of support calls or remote sessions

5. Opt-Out

You may opt out of receiving SMS messages from edgefi at any time by using any of the following methods:

After opting out, you may receive a one-time confirmation message and will no longer receive SMS messages from us. Please note that opting out of SMS does not close or affect your active support ticket(s). Our team will continue to provide support through alternative channels such as phone or email.

7. Message and Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply to SMS messages sent to and received from edgefi, depending on your mobile carrier and service plan. edgefi is not responsible for any charges incurred by your mobile carrier for SMS messaging. Please contact your carrier for details about your text messaging plan and any applicable fees.

 

8. Supported Carriers

Our SMS service is designed to work with all major U.S. mobile carriers. However, edgefi does not guarantee message delivery across all carriers or devices. Delivery may be affected by your carrier's network, device compatibility, or coverage area.

 

9. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Information collected through our SMS program is governed by our SMS Privacy Policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or SMS data with third parties for marketing purposes. 10. User Responsibilities

By participating in our SMS program, you agree to provide accurate and current contact information, use SMS communications only for legitimate support-related purposes, refrain from sending threatening, harassing, abusive, or otherwise objectionable content, and not use our SMS service for any unlawful purpose. edgefi reserves the right to suspend or terminate your SMS access if we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated these Terms.

 

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

SMS communications are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. edgefi makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the reliability, timeliness, or availability of SMS messaging. We do not guarantee that messages will be delivered without delay or error. SMS should not be used for emergency communications. 12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, edgefi shall not be liable for any damages arising from or related to the use of or inability to use our SMS service, including but not limited to failed, delayed, or misdirected messages, unauthorized access to message content, any actions taken or not taken based on SMS communications, or charges imposed by your mobile carrier. In no event shall edgefi's total liability exceed the fees paid by you for the specific support engagement giving rise to the claim.

 

13. Modifications to These Terms

edgefi reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of our SMS service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

 

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our SMS service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Washington.
